The extension at Graz University of Technology is based on two different designs. The first design, an expressive and free set of buildings, was prevented by a citizens’ initiative. The second design is a reduced variant with a stronger inward orientation.

Several axes that lead to a spatial concentration overlap. One axis connects the old Gründerzeit building with the new structure. The key motifs of the building are the glass entrance hall and the curved shape of the lecture hall, also a recurring element in Domenig’s architecture and still reminiscent of organic structures despite the obviously more functional orientation and clear geometry.
