Out of the research that was part of the exhibition project Günther Domenig: DIMENSIONAL grew a diverse collection of knowledges about Domenig, his buildings, his context and work in many different forms of media. The aim of this online archive is to make this wealth of information easily and fully accessible for everyone. All media are treated equally – whether they are photos, texts, sketches or interviews. The archive is intended to keep growing and expanding continuously. It gives you the opportunity to browse and delve into the content according to your needs, or look for specific information.

Günther Domenig: DIMENSIONAL is an exhibition project at four locations in Carinthia that took place from July to October 2022. For the first time it presented the architect’s work as a comprehensive show, contextualised through contemporary artistic and architectural positions.

The Museum of Modern Art Carinthia explored the relationship between art and architecture, while the Architektur Haus Kärnten focused on Günther Domenig’s impact on contemporary architectural production. The Domenig Steinhaus and Heft / Hüttenberg were themselves exhibition objects and thus directly activated through artistic interventions: The physicality of the Domenig Steinhaus was investigated through the medium of performance, curated by the Tanzquartier Wien. The former regional exhibition centre at Heft was opened up to the public again for the first time in decades and featured contemporary artistic interventions as well as works by students from selected art and architecture universities.

The exhibition was accompanied by the book IN RESONANCE, published with JOVIS Verlag. It creates a dialogue between over thirty Domenig buildings photographed by Gerhard Maurer and an essayistic exploration by the contemporary writer Anna Baar. Besides this, the exhibition was framed by various lectures and talks, a forum and artistic interventions, many of them to be found on this platform.
